The Nexus 4 is expected to run an updated version of the current version of Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, rather than the next full-blown release, 4.2, codenamed Key Lime Pie. The incremental update appeared to be confirmed by Carphone Warehouse's page, which said it will run Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor.
Google has previously used its Nexus own brand to provide handsets running a version of Android unfettered by user-interface 'skins' from manufacturers or mobile operators. Previous Nexus handsets have been manufactured by Samsung and HTC.
Google was also expected to have planned to announce a new, 10-inch Nexus tablet at today's event. Over the weekend, pictures were published online purporting to show a Samsung-manufactured 10-inch tablet. The tablet would join the Asus-made Nexus 7 tablet that Google launched in the summer.
