Mr Bradshaw was impressed with Mr Davie's prompt response: "Thanks so much for taking the trouble to respond, and for telling me you're wearing a tie today," he wrote. "Keep it up! With my very best wishes for you and dear old BBC John."
A BBC spokesman said: "Tim is a great believer in acting on audience feedback."
On his first day as acting director-general at the BBC, Mr Davie was also criticised for appearing to "walk out" of an interview with Sky News.
After batting away questions about whether "more heads would roll" at the corporation, Mr Davie said he had "a lot to do" and walked off. A BBC spokesman later clarified that he did not walk off but his interview had overrun.
